Mathieu Jobin's Life and Thoughts

Here is my latest toy. I made myself a Kanji studying tool. It took me only few hours to build using QtRuby. I find it pretty amazing what I built in this short amount of time even though I don't have much experience with this technology. It is a really impressive technology.

I build up a small kexi (sqlite3) database, which I open with ActiveRecord. I could have used Qt's SQL module, but I'm so used to AR that I did not bother.

I named it kikkanji because I first intended to create a kicker panel applet. but, panel applets are not yet possible with QtRuby. so I had to wait. I instead used Qt Designer and created myself a main window.

Many people are asking me why did I chose Japan ? Why did I come to Japan ? As much as it seems obvious to me, it is not as quite easy to explain.

The problem is, I got about fifteen thousands reasons to have chosen Japan. And when someone ask me, I'm not sure he wants the short answer or the long answer. So I'm gonna try to write a bit about it so I have it handy at hand to answer people.

Une petite note pour tous, afin de vous rappeler que nous tous, voyageons. Même si vous vivez toujours chez vos parents; Vous aussi vous parcourez ce monde merveilleux qu'est le notre.

S'il-vous-plait, rappelez-vous que tous ceux que vous rencontrez qui pense différamment de vous ont probablement raison.

Et j'aimerais que tous essaie de se rappeller

Chaque fois qu'une personne vous tombe sur les nerfs ou fait quelque chose qui vous met à l'envers profondément. Cette personne est probablement seulement entrain de faire sont possible pour devenir votre ami.

Lorsque quelqu'un vous semble stupid, cela veut probablement et simplement dire que cette personne à consacrée sa vie à des passions différentes. Que ce qui est simple ou complex pour l'un et l'autre font simplement partie de domaines de connaissance différent.

Et puis finallement la tolerance est le plus beau cadeau que vous pouvez faire à l'autre, mais surtout à vous même. Et rappelle-vous également que se plaindre n'est rien d'autre qu'impoli, anti-performant et très ennuyeux.

Just a quick reminder for everyone that we are all travelling. Where ever you are living, even 10 feets away from your family. You too, you are travelling this wonderful world.

Please, everytime you meet someone who thinks differently: remember he is probably right.

Every time you meet someone who piss you off or do something that shock you very deeply. Please remember He is most likely just trying his best to be your friend.

When someone looks stupid, it just means he has been focusing on different things. So simple and complex things does not match between you two's mindsets.

And finally, please forgive others as it is the best gift to offer to others but also and mainly to yourself. And remember that complaining is nothing else than impolite, counter-productive and boring.

Do Microsoft still owns important part of Apple? Do Mr Bill Gates received huge money from ipod sales and Mac switcher as well? I'd like to know if it is still the case. Because if so, things could become very scary.

I changed my KDE desktop feels, I like it so much better :) And feel much more productive since then. it's been about a month now. and I totally love it.

I got rid of everything, make it simpler looking and giving me more screen space.
